Terms of Service


1. Introduction

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the services and facilities provided by The Venue by Monique ("we", "us", "our"). By booking, using, or attending events at our venue, or by using our website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services or access the venue.

2. Definitions

Client: the person or organization that books the venue or contracts services for an event.
Event Date: the date(s) and times booked for the event as specified in the booking confirmation or contract.
Venue: The Venue by Monique premises and facilities.

3. Bookings, Deposits & Payments

  • Bookings are confirmed only when a signed contract and the required deposit are received.
  • Deposit amounts, due dates, and remaining balance terms are set out in the booking contract. Deposits are generally non-refundable unless otherwise stated in writing.
  • Final guest counts, catering requirements, and other event details must be confirmed by the dates specified in your contract. Failure to do so may result in additional charges.
  • We accept payments by the methods listed in your invoice. Late payments may incur interest or fees and can result in cancellation of your booking.

4. Cancellations & Refunds

All cancellation requests must be provided in writing to info@thevenuebymonique.com. Refunds, if any, will be governed by the terms of your contract. We reserve the right to retain deposits and, where applicable, apply cancellation fees to cover administrative costs and lost bookings.

In the event we must cancel an event due to circumstances beyond our control (including but not limited to safety concerns, government restrictions, or force majeure events), we will work with you to reschedule or provide a refund in accordance with the contract.

5. Access, Setup & Use of the Venue

  • Access to the venue is limited to the times shown on your contract. Additional access may be granted for setup/strike at an extra charge if available.
  • All decorations, installations, and signage must be approved in advance and must not damage the premises. Nails, screws, or adhesives that damage surfaces are prohibited unless approved.
  • Open flames (other than approved candles), pyrotechnics, and hazardous materials are prohibited unless expressly permitted in writing.
  • Guests must comply with venue rules, fire safety regulations, and any instructions from venue staff.

6. Vendors, Contractors & Insurance

You are responsible for ensuring that any external vendors (e.g., caterers, photographers, entertainers) comply with our vendor policies and provide proof of insurance on request. We reserve the right to refuse access to vendors who do not meet venue standards.

7. Damage, Security Deposit & Cleaning

  • Clients are responsible for any damage to the venue or property caused by guests, vendors, or invitees. Repair or replacement costs will be charged to the client.
  • A security deposit may be required and will be held against damage or excessive cleaning. Deductions may be made from this deposit and the remainder refunded in accordance with the contract.
  • Events must end and the space must be vacated at the agreed time. Overtime charges apply for events that run beyond the agreed end time.

8. Alcohol, Licensing & Responsible Service

If alcohol is to be served, the client must obtain any required permits and comply with all laws and venue policies concerning the sale and service of alcohol. We expect responsible service; intoxicated guests may be refused service or removed. The client may be liable for any breach of licensing laws.

9. Noise, Curfew & Local Regulations

Events must comply with local noise ordinances and venue-imposed curfew times. The venue reserves the right to reduce music volume or end the event if noise complaints or local regulations are violated.

10. Photography & Media

The venue may photograph or record events for promotional use. By booking or attending events, you acknowledge that images and recordings may include attendees and consent to their use by the venue. If you do not wish to be photographed, notify us at info@thevenuebymonique.com and we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request.

11. Liability, Indemnity & Insurance

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the venue’s liability for any claim arising from the event is limited to direct damages up to the amount paid by the client for the booking. The venue is not liable for indirect, special, or consequential losses.

The client agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless The Venue by Monique, its owners, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from the client’s use of the venue, negligence, or breach of these Terms.

We recommend that clients obtain event insurance (including liability and cancellation coverage) appropriate to the size and nature of their event.

12. Force Majeure

We are not liable for failure to perform any obligation under these Terms where such failure is caused by events beyond our reasonable control ("Force Majeure"), including acts of God, extreme weather, government restrictions, strikes, pandemics, or other unforeseen events. In such cases, we will use reasonable efforts to reschedule the event or provide remedies in accordance with the contract.

13. Privacy & Data

We collect and process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By using our services you consent to the collection and processing of personal data as described in that policy.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The most current version will be posted on our website. Continued use of the venue or services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the venue operates. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the venue should be resolved through negotiation in good faith, and if unresolved, may be referred to mediation or the courts of competent jurisdiction.
